Kia K5 Recall: Fuel Leak Concerns Affect Thousands of Vehicles

Kia is initiating a notable recall affecting approximately 232,000 K5 sedans due to a potential fuel leak. The automaker was alerted to the issue following multiple reports of fuel leaks and fuel odors emanating from affected vehicles.

Engineers traced the problem to a deterioration of the check valve within the purge control system, leading to a buildup of suction pressure inside the fuel tank. This recall specifically impacts models equipped with the 1.6 liter turbo T-GDI engine, while the 2.5 liter variant is not affected.

Fortunately,Kia reports no injuries have been linked to this issue thus far.Though, the large scale of the recall poses a ample risk of image and financial repercussions for the Korean manufacturer.
