Kim Jong Un Inspects Arms Factory with Daughter, Signals Nuclear Focus

Kim Jong Un’s Factory Visit and Daughter’s Role

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim visited the factory on Wednesday, reviewing a new pistol model that has recently entered production. Kim reportedly praised the weapon as “excellent” after personally test-firing it at a shooting range. Photos released by KCNA show Kim’s daughter, believed to be Kim Ju Ae, approximately 13 years old, also firing a pistol alongside senior military officials.

Kim emphasized the factory’s importance in supplying pistols and other light arms to the military and security forces, urging increased production capacity and the implementation of more modern production lines, according to KCNA.

Growing Prominence of Kim Ju Ae

Kim Ju Ae has become an increasingly visible figure in North Korean state media since her first public appearance at a long-range missile test in November 2022. She has since accompanied her father to numerous events, including military displays, factory openings, and a September 2023 summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing ¹.

The factory visit follows a recent inspection on Tuesday where Kim and his daughter observed the launch of nuclear-capable cruise missiles from a naval destroyer.
