Seahawks Name Brian Fleury as Offensive Coordinator

The Seattle Seahawks have appointed San Francisco 49ers tight ends coach Brian Fleury as their recent offensive coordinator, replacing Klint Kubiak, who has moved on to grow the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. The announcement was made on February 15, 2026, by The Athletic.

A Familiar Scheme

Fleury’s hiring brings a scheme closely related to the one previously run under Kubiak, potentially offering continuity for the Seahawks’ offense. He has been with the 49ers since 2019, initially as a defensive assistant before transitioning to offense in 2020. For the past four seasons, he has served as the tight ends coach, adding run game coordinator duties in 2025.

Internal Candidates Considered

The Seahawks considered four internal candidates for the position: run game coordinator Justin Outten, passing game coordinator Jake Peetz, quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, and tight ends coach Mack Brown. However, they ultimately chose Fleury from their division rival. Andrew Janocko is expected to become the Raiders’ offensive coordinator.

Kubiak’s Departure and Previous Tenure

Klint Kubiak’s departure to the Raiders created the offensive coordinator vacancy. He was hired by the Seahawks in February 2025, with head coach Mike Macdonald praising his character, passion, and scheme expertise. Kubiak emphasized a physical, balanced offense and highlighted quarterback Geno Smith’s strengths.

Seahawks Offensive Performance Under Kubiak

Despite a relatively short tenure, Kubiak oversaw an offense that ranked third in points per game, 10th in points per drive, and 18th in EPA per play. The Seahawks averaged 2.72 points per drive in the playoffs.

Macdonald’s Offensive Coordinator Search

This marks the third offensive coordinator hire for head coach Mike Macdonald in as many years. He previously hired Ryan Grubb in 2024 before replacing him with Kubiak.
