Korean Air secured the No. 10 spot for the World’s Best Airline at the 2026 World Airline Awards hosted by Skytrax in London, according to an announcement by the carrier on August 23. The airline also placed first in the Best Economy Class Seat and Best Airline Staff in Korea categories, landing within the top 15 across 14 distinct evaluation areas.
Skytrax Evaluation Metrics and Survey Scope
London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax conducted the survey for the World Airline Awards between September last year and August this year, gathering feedback from global passengers across more than 300 airlines. Alongside its overall top-ten placement, Korean Air achieved high marks in regional and service-specific segments. According to the Skytrax findings, the carrier ranked sixth as the Best Airline in Asia, seventh for World’s Best Family-Friendly Airline, and tenth for World’s Best Airline Cleanliness. Furthermore, the airline placed 13th in both the World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew and World’s Best Airport Services categories.
Cabin Class Standouts and Premium Offerings
Korean Air demonstrated strong performance across various cabin tiers during the evaluation period. In the premium economy segment, the carrier secured seventh place for Best Premium Economy Class Seat, tenth for Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering, and 15th in the overall premium economy category, while its economy class offering climbed to 14th overall. For first-class passengers, the airline’s Incheon Airport First Class Lounge ranked eighth, its first-class seating placed ninth, and its lounge dining secured tenth place.
Company representatives noted that these placements reflect continuous service quality improvements aimed at enhancing the overall passenger experience. Earlier in the year, Skytrax awarded Korean Air its five-star rating for the sixth year during the World Airline Star Rating program in April, and the carrier collected 13 accolades for in-flight service at the WTCE 2026 held in Hamburg, Germany.
Integration with Asiana Airlines
Korean Air is scheduled to complete its merger with Asiana Airlines, which it acquired as a subsidiary in December 2024, on December 17. The unified carrier will operate as an integrated mega-carrier boasting a workforce of approximately 25,000 employees and a fleet exceeding 200 aircraft, positioning it among the top ten airlines globally by passenger traffic capacity.
