Founding member and pillar of the legendary Sauti Sol collective, Savara Mudigi continues her solo trajectory with “Farova Forever”, a luminous piece placed under the sign of recognition. Singer, drummer, producer, performer: the artist embodies this Kenyan generation capable of doing everything in the studio as well as on stage. Here, no flashy demonstration, but an intimate declaration. “Farova Forever” is intended as an open letter to those who helped him grow, notably his family, his friends, and his community. Musically, the warm melody is also catchy. A unifying title that breathes the city of Nairobi.
Kotto Boy & Asaba – « Ewood »: Cameroonian brilliance
Then head for the Cameroon with the duo Kotto Boy and Asaba, two voices well identified between urban mbole and elegant afro-soul. Their track “Ewodi” immediately stands out in today’s landscape. In the Douala language, “Ewodi” means brilliant or dazzling. Everything is said: the song celebrates success, social elevation and pride in existing without complexes. The production focuses on sober arrangements, letting the voices and harmonies breathe. A true Cameroonian color, recognizable from the first notes.
Nez Long, Xaven & Yo Maps – « Aye »: the Zambian dream team
Change in intensity with Zambia and an all-star poster: Nez Long, Yo Maps and rapper Xaven, nicknamed the “Kopala Queen”. “Aye” (literally an exclamation of joy) is made for the stage. Percussive beat, heady choruses and verses in Bemba language: everything combines to create a collective adrenaline rush. Yo Maps brings his unstoppable hook sense, Nez Long his versatility, Xaven an incisive rap energy which dynamizes the piece. The message is clear: self-confidence, victory, celebration. A stadium anthem that reminds us how the Zambian scene is in full swing.
Henri Dikongué – « That’s life »: makossa-folk wisdom
Back in 1997 with Henri Dikonguea major figure on the Cameroonian scene. Trained in the choir, lover of classical guitar, Dikongué knew how to build a rare bridge between makossa, folk and world song. “C’est la vie” is more than a success: it’s a philosophy. A ballad of resilience, born in the solitude of a Parisian apartment, which evokes hard knocks, the detours of existence and this human capacity to get back up at all costs. Her voice, both fragile and powerful, is immediately touching. In the 1990s, the title played repeatedly on international airwaves. Even today, it retains this timeless force, spiritual cousin of the universes of Lokua Kanza or Ismaël Lô.
