KSV Baunatal Opens Latest Sportwelt Mitte in City Center
Baunatal – North Hesse’s largest sports club, KSV Baunatal (8,500 members), has opened a new facility, Sportwelt Mitte, in the heart of Baunatal. The 200-square-meter space will offer a range of fitness and rehabilitation programs, as well as innovative interactive training systems.
New Location After Previous Setback
The opening of Sportwelt Mitte follows a year after the KSV was forced to abandon its previous location in Großenritte due to water damage. Finding a new space proved challenging as existing facilities became crowded. The new location, situated within the Herkules market building, provides a central and accessible location for members.
Central Location and Accessibility
“The place is extremely attractive because of its central location,” says Katrin Eschstruth, board member and head of sports operations at KSV Baunatal. The facility benefits from nearby parking and a tram stop, enhancing convenience for participants. Elevator access is also available, ensuring inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.
Programs and Innovative Technology
Sportwelt Mitte will host a variety of programs, including health and rehabilitation sports, yoga, and children’s dancing. A key feature of the new facility is the introduction of “LÜ,” an interactive game and learning system designed to motivate participants of all ages through virtual sports equipment and instruction. “The participants are moved digitally,” explains Eschstruth, noting that trainers have already tested the system with positive results.
Phase of Setup and Integration
While initial rehabilitation groups have already begun training at Sportwelt Mitte, the facility is still in the process of being fully set up. The official launch with a full program schedule is planned for after Easter. Final touches, such as additional storage and equipment placement, are currently underway.
