Kyoshi Warriors Comics: Dark Horse Set Review

A new comic book series based in the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” universe will launch this spring from Dark Horse Comics and the creators of the original Nickelodeon animated series.

Titled “Avatar: The Last Airbender – Kyoshi Warriors,” the story, developed in collaboration with Avatar Studios and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will be told over three monthly installments.

Per the official description for “Avatar: The Last Airbender – Kyoshi Warriors”: “Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors leave their island home to join the war against the Fire Nation. Met with suspicion and resentment by the mainlanders, they struggle to prove their worth to the Earth Kingdom. but when that opportunity arises, will they be willing to compromise their values as Kyoshi Warriors to embrace it?”

The three-issue series is writen by brandon hoáng (“The Crossbow of Destiny”), illustrated by BellBessa (“Avatar: The last Airbender – Ramen Rumble”) and Xanthe Bouma, colored by Adele Matera (“Avatar: the Last Airbender – Ashes of the Academy), and lettered by Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt (Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest).

The first of three issues of “Avatar: The Last airbender: the Kyoshi Warriors” will hit comic book stores May 6 and is now available for preorder. Each 22-page issue is priced at $4.99.

Dark Horse has already partnered with the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” franchise for multiple comic books and graphic novels with this new collection announced ahead of the premiere of Netflix’s live-action TV series adaptation of the show.
