LAPD Investigates Hit-and-Run That Severely Injured Man in Downtown Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a man in his 20s with severe injuries. The incident occurred in downtown Los Angeles on January 9, 2026.
Details of the Collision
According to the LAPD, the collision took place around 2:40 a.m. On Eighth Street. The driver of an unidentified vehicle, traveling westbound, struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway and fled the scene without stopping, continuing west toward Bixel Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
Police Appeal and Reward
The LAPD reminded drivers that California law requires anyone involved in a collision to stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
