Transportation Options

There are primarily two ways to travel from Vienna to Lachtal: by train and by car.

Traveling by Train

While a direct train route doesn’t exist, traveling by train is possible with transfers. Rome2Rio details routes involving connections through Graz. From Graz, onward travel to Lachtal is required.

Traveling by Car

Driving offers more flexibility. Here are directions from various starting points:

• From Vienna: Take the Murtal expressway S36 to Judenburg. Then, continue on the Murtal federal road B317 via Rothenturm to St. Peter ob Jdbg. Finally, take the Triebener federal highway B114 to Unterzeiring and turn right towards Lachtal via Oberzeiring and Gellsee.
• From Linz or Germany: Travel on the Phyrnautobahn A9 to Trieben. From there, take the federal highway B114 over the Triebener Tauern to Unterzeiring. Continue via Oberzeiring towards Gellsee, turning right into Lachtal.
• From Klagenfurt or Italy: Take the B83 over the Perchauer Sattel to Scheifling. Continue on the B96 to Niederwölz, then the B75 towards Schiltern. Turn right towards Lachtal, continuing over the Hochegger Sattel (Gellsee) onto Lachtal.
