East Carolina Lacrosse Defeats Elon in Late-Game Surge

Greenville, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team secured a 12-9 victory over Elon on Saturday afternoon, fueled by a dominant second-half performance. The win improves East Carolina’s record to 2-1, while Elon falls to 2-1.

First-Half Battle

Elon started strong, scoring the first two goals within the opening five minutes to accept an early 2-0 lead. East Carolina quickly responded with goals from Rachel Chessock and Sarah Goodison, tying the score at 2-2 at the finish of the first quarter. Kayla Wilkes then led a charge in the second quarter, adding two goals, followed by Goodison’s second, giving the Pirates a 5-4 advantage at halftime.

Pirates Take Control

East Carolina extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Elon 5-1. Chessock contributed a pair of goals during this period, as four different Pirates found the back of the net.

Fourth-Quarter Finish

Elon attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring three consecutive goals. But, Chessock sealed the victory with her fourth goal of the game, securing a 12-9 win for East Carolina.

Key Performances

Rachel Chessock led the Pirates with four goals. Kayla Wilkes contributed two goals and three assists and Sarah Goodison recorded a hat trick. East Carolina goalkeeper Jamie Behar made seven saves and recorded her 250th career save in the win.
