Wildwood Special Screening Announced for Animation Is Film Festival

LAIKA’s upcoming stop-motion feature film Wildwood will receive a special screening on Monday, October 19, at the Geffen Theater within the Academy Museum, reported. Directed and produced by Travis Knight, the movie marks the studio’s most ambitious production to date following a 15-year development journey.

Following the screening, LAIKA President and CEO Travis Knight will participate in a one-on-one conversation with filmmaker Jason Reitman to discuss the painstaking stop-motion craft behind the project.

The 15-Year Journey to the Screen

David Burke, Chief Marketing and Operations Officer at LAIKA, noted that the film represents a decade and a half of imagination and craftsmanship executed by hundreds of artists, further stating: Animation Is Film e LAIKA condividono la convinzione che l’animazione sia cinema nella sua forma più completa, capace di raccontare storie con una straordinaria ambizione emotiva e artistica and Wildwood rappresenta 15 anni di immaginazione, maestria e impegno da parte di centinaia di artisti, quindi non ci poteva essere luogo più adatto per celebrare il suo percorso verso il grande schermo che con AIF. Knight previously directed Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, guiding LAIKA’s signature blend of handmade stop-motion miniatures with cutting-edge cinematic techniques.
