Concert organizers confirmed the cancellation to Estonian media, citing economics that make staging a large-scale concert unviable under current demand.
Ticket Sales Stalled at 12 Percent Capacity in Tallinn
Concert organizer Maksims Milovanovs told the Estonian publication Õhtuleht that advance sales reached only about 12 percent of the venue’s total capacity two months ahead of the scheduled performance date. Organizers stated that it is economically impossible to move forward with a concert of this scale given those turnout figures, prompting an official apology to ticket holders for the disruption. Estonian news portal Delfi also confirmed that the autumn performance at the Estonian capital will not proceed as planned.
Contrasting Reception in Latvia Versus Estonia
While the Tallinn date faltered due to low interest, Vaikule maintains a strong performance schedule in her home country of Latvia. Born in Cēsis in 1954 and raised in Riga, Vaikule rose to prominence during the 1980s through a collaboration with composer Raimonds Pauls, performing at the renowned Jūrmala restaurant and variety show Jūras pērle. The Latvian National Encyclopedia notes that she established herself as a pop music export, performing extensively across the former Soviet Union and Russian-speaking markets with a theatrical stage style incorporating choreography and costumes.
Since 2015, Vaikule has anchored her summer concert presence in Latvia through her international festival, Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala, held at Dzintaru Concert Hall. The 2026 edition of the festival took place in Jūrmala from July 24 to July 26, drawing local and international artists to the stage. However, that domestic drawing power failed to translate into sufficient ticket demand for the late-autumn stop across the border in Estonia.
