Around 7 p.m. On Thursday, emergency responders were dispatched to the 600 block of Moseley Street following reports of a loud explosion and subsequent fire. The explosion caused the house to collapse, according to reports from FOX 4 News and NBC DFW.

Injuries and Response

At least one person was injured in the explosion and was transported to a hospital. As of 11 p.m. Thursday, the injured individual’s condition remained unknown, NBC DFW reported. Firefighters provided an aggressive response to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, according to Lake Dallas officials.

Witness Accounts

Neighbors reported hearing a loud blast before the fire erupted. Thomas Morales, a resident nearby, described the sound as “like a ‘poom,’ like when a balloon pops,” and said the explosion shook his house, leading him to fear for its structural integrity, NBC DFW reported. Another neighbor, Amanda Hughes, said the explosion “felt like an airplane hit my house.”

Investigation

An active investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Crews are working to determine if natural gas played a role in the explosion, according to CBS News. Mutual aid was provided by the Highland Village and Lewisville fire departments.

Ongoing Concerns
