A company specializing in the importation into France and Europe of vegetables and fruits, more particularly tropical, will open a giant warehouse in Dunkirk (North) in 2027. The place will serve as a logistics site, but will also have the role of storing the products while waiting for them to ripen, reports France 3 Hauts-de-France Thursday February 12, 2026.
The Omer-Decugis & Cie group was founded in 1850 in the Var. “We are present in all distribution networks: large and medium-sized supermarkets (GMS), specialized distribution (Biocoop), including collective catering, but also Asian chains”explained Vincent Omer-Decugis, CEO of the company, in the columns of The Voice of the North in December.
A promising partnership
This new 25,000 m warehouse2which will be installed on the Dunkirk port site, will increase the company’s activities. This project will become the largest ripening plant in the country, according to France 3. This also involves a partnership with the English cut fruit giant, Prepworld. A unit in the warehouse will be entirely dedicated to cutting and vacuum-packing fruits ripened on site.
The company also intends to redirect part of the containers, whose arrival was planned in Rotterdam (Netherlands), to prepare for its installation in the North. If this bet pays off, the company, which already employs 300 people in Europe, could create 400 additional jobs.
