Latgalīšu Reps and DIONA Release Emotional New Track “Porke Parku”

Latvian hip-hop group Latgalīšu Reps and singer DIONA have released their collaborative single, “Porke Parku,” on February 26, 2026. The song explores the complexities of a relationship falling apart, capturing the moment when connection transforms into conflict.

A Dialogue of Perspectives

“Porke Parku” – which translates to “Why Park” – delves into the emotional core of a relationship’s breaking point. The song is structured as a dialogue between two individuals, each grappling with their own truth, pain, and interpretation of events. Ivo from Latgalīšu Reps explains, “The song is created as a dialogue between a man and a woman, highlighting how easily closeness can turn into incomprehensible alienation. It is about the moment when the fight begins – not for the person you love, but against him.”

From “Latgalita” to “Porke Parku”

The inspiration for “Porke Parku” originated during the filming of the music video for Latgalīšu Reps’ song “Latgalita.” A playful exchange between the Portuguese phrase “por que?” (why?) and the Latgalian “par kū?” (also meaning why?) sparked the concept for the new track. This accidental linguistic connection became the foundation for a song centered around a question often left unanswered in relationships.

Blending Rap and Melody

The track seamlessly blends the directness of rap with DIONA’s melodic and emotionally resonant vocals. The combination creates a contemporary and radio-friendly sound, addressing the realities of modern relationships, where social media and outward appearances can overshadow genuine connection.

A Natural Collaboration

DIONA emphasized the organic nature of the collaboration, noting a shared Latgalian identity and musical sensibility with Latgalīšu Reps. She also highlighted her involvement in the upcoming TV show “Choir Wars,” where she will lead the Rēzekne Orange Choir, adding a symbolic layer to the release. “Returning to Latgale also allowed me and ‘Latgalīši Repa’ to cross paths, and this song was created. It must be said that this collaboration was formed organically – we are united by both the Latgalian identity and a common musical sense,” DIONA stated.
