Shopkeeper Confronts Armed Man During Brawl at Launceston Kebab Shop
Launceston, Tasmania – A shopkeeper at Shah’s Kebab in Invermay intervened to disarm a young man wielding an axe during a violent altercation on Friday afternoon, March 13, 2026. The incident occurred after two men sought refuge inside the shop although being chased by two others along Invermay Road at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the pursuing pair entered Shah’s Kebab, and a physical fight broke out. CCTV footage from the shop shows the shopkeeper confronting the group and successfully restraining the man with the axe, causing the weapon to fall to the floor. All four individuals then fled the scene.
