Laura Alcoba to Present Latest Work at Cerbère’s Belvédère
Award-winning novelist Laura Alcoba will be appearing at the Belvédère du Rayon Vert in Cerbère, France, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM to present her latest book, Minuit à bord (Midnight on Board), published by Gallimard.
A Writer in Residence
The event is hosted by the Oxymore bookstore. Alcoba’s visit is connected to a writer’s residency, during which she was the sole occupant of the Hôtel du Belvédère, a historic hotel dating back to the 1930s. While in residence, Alcoba explored the work of poet Benjamin Fondane, who died in deportation in 1944.
Exploring Benjamin Fondane’s Lost Film
Minuit à bord centers on Alcoba’s investigation into Fondane’s life and work, specifically a film he made in Argentina with the support of Victoria Ocampo, which was subsequently lost. The book delves into the lives of Fondane, his wife Geneviève, and his sister Line, and explores themes of rising European unrest in the late 1930s and the impact of historical events on individual lives.

The presentation will include readings by Laura Alcoba, Claude Faber, and Marie Grollier, who will perform on cello.
