Unreleased Creed Destiny Footage Surfaces Online Following Cancellation
Ubisoft’s unannounced open-world game Creed Destiny has surfaced online through leaked developer portfolio footage, revealing a project set in ancient China that was reportedly canceled before its official reveal. GameQuarter reported that the game was in development at TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Ubisoft’s Chinese partner Tencent. While the exact reasons for the cancellation remain unconfirmed, the project joins a shifting lineup of franchise entries targeting different platforms and historical eras.
Ancient China Setting and Gameplay Mechanics
Leaked prototype material originating from February 2025 showcases a massive open world aimed at modern consoles and PC, according to reporting by IGN. The game was reportedly set during 206 BCE, a pivotal historical transition where the Qin dynasty yielded to the Han dynasty following a brutal civil war, with a narrative expected to center on Liu Bang’s rise to power. Developer portfolio snippets published by MP1st and cited by IGN show a hooded protagonist infiltrating a palace courtyard, performing stealth assassinations, leaping into haybales, and utilizing a spinning umbrella weapon alongside a dual-protagonist or character-selection system.

Partnership Dynamics and Tencent’s Strategic Shift
The development of Creed Destiny involved a partnership between Ubisoft and Chinese conglomerate Tencent, which owns major stakes across the gaming industry, including a 25% share in Vantage Studios. Gameliner noted that Tencent publicly stated in 2024 that it was shifting focus away from Western franchises due to lower profit margins compared to products aimed squarely at the domestic Chinese market. That strategic realignment also triggered a structural reorganization of TiMi Studio Group into multiple internal teams.

Future Assassin’s Creed Releases and Mobile Counterparts
Despite the cancellation of Creed Destiny, several other franchise projects remain in active development. Among them is Assassin’s Creed Jade, a mobile game also developed by TiMi Studio Group that explores the same general historical era of ancient China during the Qin dynasty, specifically targeting the year 215 BCE according to GameQuarter. Additionally, Ubisoft continues work on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, set during the Holy Roman Empire amidst the 1626 witch trials in Würzburg, alongside the multiplayer-focused project codenamed Invictus.
