Lee Kwang-yeop Appointed President of Korea Health Checkup Institutions Association

Lee Kwang-yeop, currently the executive director of KMI Korea Medical Institute, has been appointed as the third president of the Korea Health Checkup Institutions Association. His inauguration took place on March 4, 2026, and he will serve a three-year term leading the organization.

About the Korea Health Checkup Institutions Association

The Korea Health Checkup Institutions Association serves as a key consultative body for major health checkup institutions in South Korea. Its primary goals include enhancing the quality of health checkups, driving policy improvements, and fostering research and development within the industry. The association aims to prevent disease, improve public health, and advance the overall health checkup sector in Korea.

Member Institutions

The association’s membership includes prominent institutions such as GC Green Cross I-MED, IFC Korea Medical Foundation, KMI Korea Medical Institute, SCL Leaders Healthcare, SCMC Seoul Central Medical Center, Hanaro Medical Foundation, Korea Health Management Association, and Hanshin Medipia.

President Lee’s Vision

President Lee Kwang-yeop emphasized the critical role of health checkups in national health management, stating they are “the core of national health management that detects and prevents diseases early.” During his inauguration ceremony, he pledged to collaborate with member institutions to improve the expertise and trustworthiness of health checkups, ultimately contributing to better public health outcomes.

KMI Korea Medical Institute Leadership

Lee Kwang-yeop’s appointment builds on his existing role as executive director of KMI Korea Medical Institute. KMI recently earned certification from the World Health Organization’s Health Promoting Hospitals (WHO-HPH) network, recognizing its commitment to health promotion and community wellness. KMI operates eight medical centers nationwide and a joint clinic in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

As president, Lee plans to focus on establishing a robust statistical basis for health checkups, proposing relevant policy changes, and developing a uniquely Korean health checkup model.
