Lee Ungno Museum to Host 'La foule et mes fantômes' Exhibition in Paris

Paris Exhibition Showcases 2026 Residency Artists

The Daejeon-based Lee Ungno Museum is bringing the work of its latest international artists to the French capital through an upcoming showcase titled “La foule et mes fantômes” (Crowds and My Ghosts), Joongbu Maeil reported. Scheduled to run from February 14 to February 20 at SEE Galerie in Paris’s Marais district, the exhibition highlights the creative output of the 11th cohort of Paris Lee Ungno Residency participants. An opening ceremony is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, local time.

Three Artists Create Works During Paris Residency Program

Three artists—Son Juwang, Ahn Taeeun, and Hwang Kyeonghyun—participated in the 2026 residency program, spending time at the institution’s facility in the Paris suburb of Vaux-sur-Seine. During their stay, they engaged in local art research, critical workshops, and independent studio production. Their resulting pieces form the core of the Paris exhibition, curated by residency manager Park Jeongseon, who worked alongside the artists in France.

Ghost Metaphor Explores Modern Isolation

The exhibition uses the metaphor of ghosts to examine modern inner life, personal solitude, and individual perspective. Hwang Kyeonghyun observes urban landscapes and crowds, capturing external interactions with the world from an outsider’s viewpoint. Son Juwang layers everyday images and sensory fragments collected from memory to build surreal interior spaces. Ahn Taeeun pairs the private routines and temporal spaces of women in their peer group with fantastical imagery.

Global Competitiveness for Regional Talent

Museum representatives stated that the exhibition aims to introduce capable artists from Daejeon to the international stage and strengthen their global competitiveness. The showcase marks a direct channel for regional practitioners to present their research-backed studio projects to European audiences and critics.
