Daft Punk Pyramid Stage Becomes Official LEGO Set After Fan Campaign

LEGO is transforming Daft Punk’s iconic pyramid stage from the 2007 Alive tour into an official concert set, al.com reported on October 22. The collaboration emerged from a fan-designed model that originated during pandemic lockdowns and eventually secured 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas crowdsourcing platform. While the toy company confirmed the project is moving into formal development, a release date, price, piece count, and dimensions remain unannounced.

The concept began when Patrick Harboun and his then-eight-year-old son built an early prototype at home in Luxembourg using bricks they already owned, according to al.com. Harboun subsequently utilized his engineering background to expand the design digitally. The model won the grand prize in the LEGO Ideas Music to Our Ears challenge in 2020 before gathering the necessary public support for a formal corporate review. The original fan submission featured a motor-powered, rotating box of transparent bricks inside the pyramid alongside hanging lights designed to replicate the concert’s light show.

Variety reported that the broader multi-platform partnership spans products, digital content, and brand experiences. To mark the announcement, LEGO and Daft Punk released a 48-second animated short film showing the helmeted duo as minifigures tracking a holographic red brick through a dark landscape to a brick-built console. The short features a soundtrack nodding to the band’s 2001 album Discovery and their 2005 title track Human After All, with LEGO Ideas also confirming on Facebook that RobotRock’s submission will become an official set on October 23, with the caption “Building a new era.”

Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience, Harboun said in the official company announcement reported by al.com.

Daft Punk creative director Cédric Hervet noted the cultural significance of the stage design in Variety’s coverage. The pyramid stage is one of the most recognisable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership, Hervet said. Creator RobotRock will collaborate directly with LEGO designers on the final retail version, though LEGO has cautioned that features from the original fan model are not yet confirmed for the final shelves. Like the Lego brand, Daft Punk inspires generations through creativity, innovation and a deep connection with fans, said Julia Goldin, Lego’s chief product and marketing officer.
