Leon Slater became the youngest world champion in TNA Wrestling history, defeating Nic Nemeth at Bound For Glory on October 11, 2026.
Title Match Sequence at Bound For Glory
The main event saw a back-and-forth contest between the veteran Nemeth and the challenger Slater. Nemeth countered with a Famouser and a sleeper hold, but Slater regained momentum by launching Nemeth into the turnbuckle.
Once back inside, Slater executed a flying splash before finishing the match with his signature Swanton Bomb.
Slater, who was 22 years old at the time, secured the victory after a series of high-impact moves, including a handspring back elbow, a crossbody to the outside floor, and a 450 Splash. Nemeth countered with a Rough Ryder and a headbutt, but Slater’s resilience led to the final pinfall.
Path to the World Championship
Slater’s path to the main event was established through the company’s "Option C" rule. Nic Nemeth had held the world title since defeating Mike Santana at Slammiversary earlier in the year.
Slater earned the opportunity by winning the X-Division Championship and subsequently exercising "Option C" at TNA Lockdown, which allows the X-Division titleholder to trade their belt for a shot at the World Championship. The X-Division title was vacated when Slater invoked Option C, leading to a seven-way scramble match for the vacant title.
Championship Changes and Event Highlights
