Leoš Mareš Steps Back from Festivals, Returns to ‘SuperStar’

Moderator Leoš Mareš is undergoing a noticeable shift in lifestyle, prioritizing peace, family, and a slower pace over the high-energy events he once embraced. This change in priorities has led him to step back from attending festivals, including Beats for Love, while simultaneously returning to his roots as the host of SuperStar.

A Change of Pace

Mareš explained his decision to forgo attending the Beats for Love festival, stating that the planning and preparation required for a multi-day event no longer align with his current lifestyle. “I’m not much of a festival type anymore. Being somewhere for three or four days already requires a lot of planning, you have to really love it and it requires a lot of preparation. So it’s more like maybe a bit of laziness. You have to somehow secure the whole caravan and a small child won’t come with you,” he told eXtra.cz.

He now finds greater enjoyment in rediscovering music in a more intimate setting. “I have a playlist, like Otis Redding in my car now. It’s great to discover music that has slipped through my fingers throughout my life. I listen to old records, I have vinyl and I listen to complete albums. Nowadays it’s just singles and hits, which is like reading some nice passages from a book,” he shared.

Returning to ‘SuperStar’

Despite moving away from the festival scene, Mareš is revisiting a significant part of his career by returning to SuperStar. He will reprise his role as the host of the competition, having previously moderated and served as a judge in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2018.

“That’s heartbreaking. She hasn’t been here for five years and I’ve been involved with Superstar for over twenty years. I got an offer to host Superstar, I probably shouldn’t have said that, maybe it was a secret,” Mareš revealed at a press conference for Beats for Love, as reported by Super.cz.

His involvement will extend beyond the live broadcasts, as he will also participate in the initial casting rounds. “I will be a participant in Superstar 2026 and after two seasons of being on the jury, I’m going back to where it all started. I’ll be hosting not only the live broadcasts, but in years Superstar will have a host in the first rounds, in the castings. I’ll be part of that train from the beginning. It’s all a return to my roots and I’m happy about it. It makes me happy and gives me energy to experience something I’ve always loved,” he added.

A Shift in Priorities

Mareš’s evolving lifestyle reflects a desire for more privacy and balance. He maintains a minimal presence on social media, prioritizing personal connections and a more grounded existence. As Nova reports, he is embracing a quieter life, focusing on what truly matters to him.
