Letterkenny Man Fined for Cocaine Possession
A Letterkenny man has been fined €400 after being found in possession of cocaine on two separate occasions in 2024. Felix Connors, 19, appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with two drug offenses.
Details of the Offenses
According to Garda Sergeant Jim Collins, on October 28th, 2024, at 1:30 am, Gardaí observed two males acting suspiciously outside the Glencar Inn in Letterkenny. One male fled, while the other was apprehended and found to be in possession of a white powder substance identified as cocaine, with a street value of €5.1
On November 4th, 2024, Gardaí responded to a call at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny and spoke with Felix Connors in a hotel room. A subsequent search revealed Connors to be in possession of cocaine valued at €70.1
Court Proceedings
Connors, represented by solicitor Michael Shiel, was fully cooperative during the interview process. Sergeant Collins informed the court that the accused had prior convictions for similar drug offenses and public order violations.1
Mr. Shiel stated that his client was unemployed, lived at home with his parents, and assisted with horse care. He acknowledged Connors’ guilty plea but noted he was not currently on a waiting list for drug counseling, and that the amounts of drugs involved were not substantial.1
Judge Emile Daly convicted Connors on the second offense and imposed a fine of €400, taking the first charge into consideration.1
