Lidl Ireland Invests €11 Million in Pay Rises for Employees
Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland is investing €11 million in pay increases for its employees in the Republic of Ireland, and a further £2.3 million in Northern Ireland, effective March 1st, 2026. This commitment ensures all employees will receive wages matching the recommended €15.40 Living Wage hourly rate for 2026.
Commitment to Fair Wages
The supermarket chain has consistently prioritized employee compensation, becoming the first major nationwide employer in Ireland to commit to paying the Living Wage in 2015. For the past decade, Lidl has maintained or exceeded the recommended Living Wage rate. This latest investment builds on over €58 million in pay rises since 2022, resulting in an approximate 27.5% cumulative pay increase for all employees.
Impact on Employees
According to Lidl, the pay increases will provide an average of €9,500 in additional take-home pay for employees during the cost-of-living crisis. Maeve McCleane, Chief People Officer at Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland, emphasized the company’s holistic approach to employee compensation.

Lidl’s dedication to its workforce has been recognized by the Top Employers Institute, which has certified Lidl as a Top Employer for the sixth consecutive year in 2026. The company is one of only 13 Irish companies and the sole grocery retailer to receive this accolade.
