Lidl Recalls Nautica Smoked Trout Fillets Across Belgian Stores Over Listeria Risk

Lidl has recalled Nautica-branded smoked trout fillets sold in its Belgian stores due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes, Redactie24 reported. The recall covers 125-gram plastic packages carrying a use-by date of October 31, 2026.

The affected seafood was available to shoppers between October 14 and October 23, 2026. Supplier Danforel initiated the withdrawal from store shelves alongside a direct consumer recall. While not every package is necessarily contaminated, the food safety risk is high enough to prompt an immediate halt to consumption.

Health Risks and Symptoms Associated with Listeria Exposure

Listeriosis, the infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes, can trigger severe health complications in vulnerable populations. Pregnant women, older adults, young children, and individuals with compromised immune systems face the highest risk of serious illness.

Common symptoms include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal distress. Because incubation periods vary widely, anyone who has eaten the smoked trout and develops concerning signs should consult a physician immediately and disclose their dietary exposure.

Store Return Procedures and Refund Policies for Affected Customers

Customers possessing the 125-gram Nautica smoked trout fillets with the October 31, 2026 expiration date should discard the food or return it to any Lidl location in Belgium. Lidl confirmed that shoppers will receive a full refund, and a purchase receipt is not required for the return.

The safest approach is to avoid eating the product entirely, even if it appears and smells normal. Consumers with additional inquiries can contact Lidl’s customer service division at customercare@lidl.be.
