Members of the iconic cast of The Lord of the Rings recently shared their appreciation for Vancouver’s culinary offerings although in town for the 25th anniversary celebration of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at Fan Expo. Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd explored several of the city’s acclaimed restaurants, generating buzz on social media.

Dominic Monaghan (Merry) highlighted the positive experience, stating, “Very friendly, great food scene,” in a video posted by @dineoutvanfest on Tuesday. The group dined at Mott 32, a Chinese restaurant, and Vij’s, a renowned Indian eatery.

Vij’s restaurant shared their excitement about hosting the cast on Sunday, posting, “Welcoming Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan to Vij’s felt surreal — four incredible artists whose work has brought so much joy to audiences around the world, gathered around our table in Vancouver.” The restaurant also noted that each actor received a copy of Chef Vij’s novel cookbook, My New Indian Kitchen, co-authored with Jennifer Muttoo.
