Lucas Moura Included in São Paulo Squad for Clash Against Atlético-MG

São Paulo forward Lucas Moura has been included in the squad list for Wednesday’s match against Atlético-MG, despite previously expressing concerns about playing on artificial turf. The team is traveling to Belo Horizonte on Tuesday night for the game at Arena MRV.

Last year, Lucas Moura was vocal in his criticism of synthetic surfaces following a knee ligament rupture sustained in March at Allianz Parque .

The inclusion comes after Lucas had been following an individualized strengthening and load management program following a capsule strain in his right knee. He had previously been left out of the squad for the match against Atlético-MG on August 24, 2025, as part of this recovery plan .

Despite his previous reservations, Lucas is available for selection. The club had indicated he would be prioritized for selection in CONMEBOL Libertadores matches, with upcoming fixtures against LDU Quito on September 18th and 25th serving as key targets for his full return to form .

São Paulo also has Luciano and Alan Franco on yellow card suspension watch for the upcoming match against Palmeiras. Lucas Moura’s potential discomfort on artificial turf, as experienced at Palmeiras’ Allianz Parque, had previously led to him being excluded from lineups, though he did play as a starter in a Campeonato Paulista match against them earlier this year .
