Sport.detik.com reported that Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute at Oviedo on Sunday, October 4, moving from the right flank to curl a left-footed shot into the top corner.
Suaralandak.co.id noted that the 19-year-old Barcelona winger has been directly involved in 19 goals and scored 12 times for club and country since August 31, leading all players from clubs in Europe’s top five leagues during that period.
De la Fuente Praises Yamal’s Potential and Ballon d’Or Standing
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente reacted to Yamal’s opening goal from the sidelines by grabbing his head in disbelief, later telling reporters that the teenager is on a path to becoming a football legend. Medcom.id quoted De la Fuente stating that Yamal still has significant room for growth despite his current output.
Lamine never ceases to amaze us all,
De la Fuente said, as reported by Medcom.id. He has so much talent and quality. He still has a lot to give us, and there is a long way to go before we see the best of Lamine, even though he continues to score extraordinary goals like this.
Regarding individual honors, De la Fuente suggested Yamal belongs in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or. Medcom.id and Suaralandak.co.id both cited the manager noting that if Yamal were the sole Spanish player nominated, he would qualify as the world’s best, though he also acknowledged strong competition from other Spanish internationals.
