Luna Park in Coney Island Kicks Off 2026 Season with Opening Weekend Festivities
New York City’s iconic seaside playground, Luna Park in Coney Island, officially opens for the 2026 season on Saturday, March 28th, at 11:00 AM EST. The opening weekend will feature classic rides, treats, and seaside fun, culminating in the traditional egg cream christening of the Coney Island Cyclone on Sunday, March 29th, at 11:00 AM EST.
This year’s season is particularly exciting as the legendary Coney Island Cyclone prepares to celebrate its 99th birthday this June, leading up to its monumental 100th anniversary in 2027. Luna Park will donate a portion of the proceeds from opening weekend to local charities.
Cyclone Egg Cream Christening and Free Rides
On Sunday, March 29th, Luna Park will host its annual Cyclone Egg Cream Christening at 11:00 AM EST. The first 99 guests to ride the Cyclone will receive a free ride and a classic egg cream treat, courtesy of Luna Park (while supplies last).
What to Expect at Luna Park
Guests can enjoy over 50 rides and attractions for all ages, along with arcade games, food vendors, and the classic boardwalk experience. Admission to Luna Park is free, with rides starting at $4.00.
Supporting the Community
Luna Park continues its annual charitable initiative, with a portion of the proceeds from opening weekend benefiting local organizations, including the Coney Island Sharks, Operation H.O.O.D., Children of Promise, NYC, Urban Neighborhood Services, and the Coney Island Public Library.
Luna Park will operate on weekends through the spring, with extended hours during spring break and daily operations beginning later in the season.
