The Maextro S800 became the best-selling luxury sedan in China in January 2026. The model developed in cooperation between Huawei and JAC aims directly against established German limousines.

According to Chinese statistics, the Maextro S800 ranked first among luxury sedans in the domestic market in January 2026. At the same time, it surpassed the sum of registrations of models such as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class or the BMW 7 Series.

Deliveries to customers began in the second half of 2025, and total sales have already exceeded fourteen thousand cars. Big cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai or Beijing report the largest sales. The price of the model ranges from approximately 2.3 to 3.5 million crowns, depending on the version.

A large limousine with an emphasis on the back seats

With a length of around 5.5 meters, the S800 is one of the largest sedans on the market. The wheelbase and proportions correspond to a class where the owner usually sits in the back. The rear part of the interior is therefore key: fully electrically adjustable seats with a massage function, folding tables, separate displays and a cooling box are standard on higher trims.

An interesting feature is the projection system for the rear passengers, which can project the image over the entire area in front of them. The cabin is significantly soundproofed and the manufacturer emphasized vibration isolation and aerodynamic noise.

The dashboard is dominated by several large displays linked into one system. The car supports remote software updates and advanced driver assistance systems. The equipment also includes the Huawei Sound Ultimate audio system with a large number of speakers distributed throughout the cabin.

Huawei is involved in the development in cooperation with the car manufacturer JAC Motors. This is mainly reflected in the area of software and connectivity. The Maextro S800 is available as a pure electric model as well as an EREV, i.e. an electric vehicle with a range extender.

Electric and hybrid versions

The purely electric version offers a range of around 650 to 700 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC methodology. The variant with an extender combines a battery and an internal combustion engine acting as a generator, which enables a significantly longer total range of over a thousand kilometers.

The chassis is set primarily for comfort. Tests mention a very calm expression, soft suspension and an emphasis on fluidity of the ride rather than a sporty character.

The Maextro S800 thus represents an alternative to traditional European limousines on the domestic market. It offers comparable space and equipment, a strong technological background and electrified drives that correspond to the current development direction of the Chinese automobile market.
