German Hospital Worker suspected of 17 Rapes
A German hospital worker is under investigation for allegedly raping 17 patients while they were undergoing medical procedures. Authorities beleive the crimes occurred over a period of several years across multiple hospitals in the North Rhine-Westphalia region.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is accused of exploiting his position of trust to commit the offenses. Some of the incidents are said to have been filmed by the man himself.
Police raided the man’s home in July on suspicion of possessing child pornography, during which they allegedly discovered images and videos linked to the hospital rapes, triggering the new investigation.
Three of the alleged rapes took place at Essen University Hospital, with another incident occurring at a different facility. The man worked at numerous hospitals in the region – including in Munster, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum, and Dortmund – securing placements through a temporary employment agency. He also held a part-time position at Dortmund Hospital.
Investigators are now working to identify all potential victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The case has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about patient safety and vetting procedures within the German healthcare system.
