Malta House Appoints Three New Board Directors in Norwalk

Malta House, a Norwalk-based non-profit providing shelter and support services to pregnant and parenting mothers and their children, announced the appointment of three new directors to its board. The organization, established in 1998, has helped more than 900 mothers and babies through its residential and community outreach programs.

New Board Members Bring Diverse Professional Backgrounds

The newly appointed board members represent leadership roles in religious ministry, corporate marketing, and talent acquisition. Father Sam Kachuba, Vicar for Young Adult Ministries of the Diocese of Bridgeport, joins the board alongside Heather Keane, owner and Chief Marketing Officer of Stamford-based Visiting Angels, and Troy Pinto, a client-facing executive at LinkedIn.

Michael O’Rourke, Chair of Malta House’s Board of Directors, stated that these individuals bring a unique set of skills to support the long-term vision of the organization. “These talented and passionate individuals will be a tremendous asset to our board,” O’Rourke said, noting that Malta House serves residents experiencing homelessness and provides a lifeline of hope, safety, and stability.

Leadership Perspectives on Supporting Mothers and Families

The new directors highlighted personal and professional motivations for joining the non-profit. Keane pointed to the connection between crisis pregnancy support and potential employment opportunities. “I look forward to introducing moms who have experienced their caring support to our team at Visiting Angels for potential future employment opportunities,” Keane said.

Pinto noted his previous work helping mothers build resumes and search for jobs in the recruiting field. “As a Catholic, I believe strongly that if we are going to encourage women to have children, even in tough circumstances, we need to do everything in our power to support them,” Pinto said.

Father Kachuba described the facility as a natural extension of diocesan ministry. “The nurturing home environment and support programs for needy moms of all faiths are a lifeline for women marginalized by society seeking direction in their lives,” Kachuba said.
