Pennsylvania Man Arrested After Living with Mother’s Corpse for Days

A 37-year-ancient Pennsylvania man was arrested after authorities discovered him living with his deceased mother’s body for several days. The incident, initially reported on March 19, 2026, by NBC10 Philadelphia, unfolded after police conducted a welfare check at their home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in October 2025.

“My mother stopped breathing this morning”

According to court documents, the 70-year-old woman’s body was found lying on a mattress in the living room. When police arrived, the son reportedly stated, “I was just going to call you. My mother stopped breathing this morning.” This account was contradicted by the investigation’s findings.

A strong smell of decomposition

Investigators determined the woman had likely been deceased for more than a week, based on the state of decomposition. The home was described as being in “complete mess” and emitting a strong odor of decay. Fans were placed throughout the property, seemingly in an attempt to mask the smell, which was also attracting insects.

The victim suffered from advanced dementia, rendering her unable to walk or speak. Her son was her primary caregiver. The cause of death is still under investigation. The man is facing charges related to the abuse of a corpse and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 8, 2026.
