Man Charged Following Cryptocurrency Seizure in Organized Crime Investigation
Galway, Ireland – February 7, 2026 – A man in his 20s has been formally charged and is scheduled too appear before Galway District Court following a Garda operation targeting organized criminal activity. The arrest stems from an investigation that resulted in the seizure of $410,000 in cryptocurrency and over €20,000 in a local financial institution.
Gardaí arrested the suspect in Doughiska on Monday after executing a search warrant at a residence in the area. The operation led to the freezing of two cryptocurrency accounts valued at $410,000, alongside the aforementioned bank account holding over €20,000.
the accused has been charged and will appear before a special sitting of galway District Court this Friday evening at 5:45 PM.
