A man in his 20s living in Asker has been formally charged with attempted murder following a knife attack inside a Joker grocery store in Sandvika on the evening of September 7, according to police statements reported by The messenger. The suspect, whose name has not been publicly released, denies criminal culpability through his defense counsel.

The investigation led Norwegian law enforcement directly to the suspect, according to police prosecutor Anders Raaum Østberg. Investigators state that the man has prior contact with police, though none of those previous interactions involved offenses as severe as the current charge of attempted murder.
The suspect is scheduled for a custody hearing on Saturday morning. Police prosecutor Raaum Østberg confirmed that the accused has consented to holding the detention hearing as a paperwork review rather than an in-person courtroom appearance.

Attorney Seiran Ahmadi, representing the accused man, stated via text message that her client has chosen not to give a statement to police at this stage. Ahmadi attributed this decision to the formal withholding and restriction of case documents—known in Norwegian legal procedure as klausulering—which currently prevents the defense from reviewing the full investigative file.
Victim Recovery and Evidence Gathering
The victim, a teenage boy, sustained serious injuries during the stabbing incident inside the grocery store located on Elias Smiths vei. Following the attack, the injured teenager made his way to an emergency clinic for initial medical treatment before being transferred to a hospital.
Hospital staff treated the teen and discharged him the following day.
