UMBC’s Alice Marini Named America East Swimmer of the Week
BOSTON – University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) graduate student Alice Marini has been recognized as the America East Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. This honor follows Marini’s outstanding performance at a recent meet hosted by Towson University.
Marini secured victories in both the 200-meter backstroke and the 400-meter individual medley. Her winning time in the 200 backstroke, 1:59.88, currently stands as the fastest time in the America East conference.
Beyond her individual successes, Marini contributed to the UMBC team’s achievements with a swift leadoff split of 26.74 seconds in the 200-meter medley relay, helping the team earn a silver medal. She also claimed a bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke.
The UMBC Retrievers swimming and diving team will next compete at the America East Championships, scheduled to take place at VMI from February 18-21.
