Marjorie “Marge” H. Weaver, Naples Resident and Community Leader, Dies at 88

Marjorie “Marge” H. Weaver, a longtime Naples, Florida resident known for her active involvement in local organizations and her vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at the age of 88. Her death was announced by the Naples Daily News in a recent obituary.

Early Life and Education

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Robert Eugene Holeton and Rachel Lippincott Flitcraft, Marge spent her early years on a dairy farm in Woodstown, New Jersey, fondly recalling memories of delivering milk with her grandfather. The family later moved to Maplewood, New Jersey, where her father worked for DuPont, sparking Marge’s early interest in science through his basement experiments.

Academic Pursuits and Marriage

Marge attended the University of Washington before marrying James S. Weaver Jr., whom she met in Maplewood, New Jersey. The couple continued their education together at Cornell University, graduating in 1959. Marge earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, while Jim received a Master of Business Administration. They embarked on a memorable honeymoon in Europe and North Africa, documenting architecture and art for their professors.

A Life of Movement and Community Involvement

Jim’s career led the family to various cities, including Baltimore, Maryland; Summit, New Jersey; Youngstown, Ohio; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and back to Baltimore. Throughout these moves, Marge remained actively engaged. She participated in the Junior League of Baltimore, achieved a professional rating from the U.S. Tennis Association, and taught both tennis and skiing. She also worked as a AAA travel agent, earning the rank of Master Cruise Counsellor.

Naples Years and Civic Engagement

Marge and Jim began visiting Naples in 1968 and eventually made it their permanent home in 2005. Following Jim’s passing in 2017, Marge continued to lead an active life, deeply involved in the Naples community. She was a longtime member of Moorings Presbyterian Church and participated in numerous organizations, including The League Club, Naples Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter, Forum Club of Naples, Circumnavigators Club, and Colonial Dames. She also supported Naples Botanical Garden and Artis-Naples.

Athletic and Artistic Pursuits

Marge remained physically and creatively active well into her 80s. She was a member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club, winning the inaugural Super Seniors Club Championship at age 82. She enjoyed water aerobics, watercolor painting, playing the ukulele, and leisurely tricycle rides. She frequently shared meals, attended events, and hosted gatherings with her daughter, Roberta, who moved to Naples in 2019.

Family and Legacy

Marge is survived by her children, Earle Weaver (Rebecca), Roberta Weaver, and Scott Weaver (Deborah); eight grandchildren: Jenna Hoertz (Brian), Julie Schuldt, Sarah Weaver, Michael Weaver (Julia), Thomas Weaver, Joseph Weaver, Allison Schuldt, and Peter Weaver; and her great-grandson, Owen Hoertz. She was predeceased by her husband, James S. Weaver Jr., and her sister, Roberta Ethelston.

Celebration of Life and Memorial Contributions

A Celebration of Life will be held at Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive, Naples, FL, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Fuller Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Moorings Park Foundation, The League Club, or NCH Emergency Department.
