Marsh Launches Stratus Insurance Exchange for Digital Infrastructure Risks

Marsh launched Stratus on August 26, 2026, a property insurance exchange built to provide up to $10 billion in single-placement capacity for digital infrastructure projects. According to Marsh, the facility targets complex operational risks tied to data centers and critical support systems for US-domiciled companies.

Structure and Capacity of the Stratus Exchange

Stratus operates by bringing together 30 traditional and alternative capital provider participants to evaluate each risk individually. According to Marsh, this structured trading environment helps providers assess, quantify, and diversify risk while addressing aggregation concerns during the operational phase of digital infrastructure projects. The platform delivers access to up to $10 billion in property insurance capacity on a single-placement basis through the global property risk transfer market. Marsh leverages its data, analytics, and advisory services to help clients procure customized property coverage as assets transition into operation.

Addressing Operational Risks in Digital Infrastructure

Large digital infrastructure projects face escalating risks as they shift from construction to operational phases. According to Joe Macejak, US Property Digital Infrastructure Leader at Marsh Risk, multi-billion-dollar campuses, self-generating power systems, and emerging processing technologies drive this complexity. Macejak stated that Stratus combines engineering data, analytics, risk consulting capabilities, and capital market access to improve the quality and efficiency of operational property placements.

Integration with the Nimbus Facility and Future Expansion Plans

Stratus is designed to seamlessly extend Marsh’s construction-phase insurance facility, known as Nimbus. According to Marsh, clients can engage Stratus and Nimbus separately or together, adding further coverages as asset needs evolve. While Stratus launches initially as a property-focused solution, Marsh plans to expand the exchange into other insurance lines including inland marine, cyber, and casualty. This expansion aims to establish a single point of access for operational digital infrastructure clients.
