Martin Kanters has released his latest single, "It’s worth a try." (It’s Worth Trying), a country-rock ballad written during his 2024 travels through the United States.

The track, which officially arrived on digital platforms on October 12, marks a shift toward original songwriting for the artist. While his previous summer single, "Because you can’t know why," was a country arrangement of an existing work by Raimonds Pauls and Imants Ziedonis, this new ballad is entirely authored by Kanters.

The Origins of Kanters' Inspiration and Songwriting Experience

The song was conceived during a road trip from Tampa, Florida, to Indianapolis, when Kanters and his wife stopped in Nashville, Tennessee. During their stay, Kanters visited the Grand Ole Opry, the historic home of country music. Kanters stated that the lyrics reflect his own life experiences intertwined with the journey, emphasizing the importance of taking risks despite uncertainty. "No one can tell you if it’s worth trying," Kanters noted regarding the song’s central message. In life, we have many teachers, but they don’t always say what we need to hear. No one can know if it will work out or not. You just have to let go and try, because there is no point in sitting and not risking anything, he added.

The creative spark occurred by chance while the couple was staying in a local apartment. It was a beautiful coincidence. I had dreamed about Nashville, and suddenly I had a guitar in my hands and everything the road and life had put together in my head, Kanters explained. The song’s themes of spontaneity are mirrored in the production of its music video, which features a 1990s GMC pickup truck. The vehicle was sourced after Kanters posted a request on social media, resulting in volunteers who, much like the song’s message, simply decided to try and participate.

Production and Technical Execution

The recording process involved a team of collaborators to capture the authentic country sound. Mārtiņš Kanters wrote both the music and the lyrics, while Jānis Čubars served as the producer and provided guitar work. The signature country aesthetic was achieved with the addition of a steel guitar, played by Kristaps Rullis. The music video, directed by Eduards Zagainovs, features a rural road, the guitar, and a 1990s GMC pickup truck.

Professional Trajectory and Recent Recognition

"It’s worth a try." follows a period of significant industry recognition for the artist. In March 2025, Kanters received a "GAMMA" award for his work as a country music performer. This release marks a departure from his previous summer single, "Because you can’t know why," which was an arrangement of a song by Raimonds Pauls and Imants Ziedonis. Beyond his musical output, Kanters has expanded into literature, having released his debut poetry collection, "Humanity," earlier in 2025, a project he spent much of September promoting through a series of live performances.
