Martin Short Postpones Tour Dates Following Daughter Katherine’s Death

Martin Short has postponed several dates of his “The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short” tour with Steve Martin following the death of his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Short.

Katherine Short, a 42-year-old Los Angeles social worker, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at her Hollywood Hills home on Monday evening around 6 p.m., where paramedics pronounced her dead shortly after Los Angeles Times.

A family statement confirmed the news, stating, “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.” People.com

Katherine Short’s Life and Career

Katherine Short was the eldest of three children adopted by Martin Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman. She held a bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender studies from NYU (2006) and a master’s degree in social work from USC (2010) Variety, The Hollywood Reporter.
