Silver Spring Dentist Charged with Sexual Assaults, Police Seek Additional Victims
A Montgomery County, Maryland, dentist has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least two patients and authorities believe there may be additional victims. Dr. Ermias Semaie, 35, of Silver Spring, was arrested on March 19, 2026, and subsequently released on bond, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
Initial Report and Investigation
The investigation began on March 2, 2026, when a patient contacted the Montgomery County Police Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) to report two separate incidents of sexual assault during dental procedures. The patient reported that Dr. Semaie sexually assaulted her during procedures when a dental hygienist was not present in the room .
Detectives corroborated the victim’s allegations during the course of their investigation .
Prior Complaint and License Suspension
The current allegations prompted investigators to uncover a previous complaint against Dr. Semaie. In 2018, another patient reported him to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. His license was temporarily suspended, and he was placed on probation . However, no criminal charges were filed at that time.
Current Charges and Call for Additional Victims
Based on both the 2018 report and the recent allegations, detectives believe other patients may have been victimized by Dr. Semaie. He has been charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault .
