Tatiana Calvillo Starts Little Heroes Foundation in Braintree

A Braintree, Massachusetts teenager has founded a student-led nonprofit supplying monthly comfort kits to hospitalized pediatric patients, boston25news.com reported. Sixteen-year-old Thayer Academy student Tatiana Calvillo launched the Little Heroes Foundation in April after drawing inspiration from her own sister’s prior hospital stay. The organization has since expanded to 19 chapters across the United States, alongside international chapters in France and Uganda.

Comfort Kits Delivered to Local Hospitals

Volunteers assemble monthly deliveries containing items such as small toys, coloring books, stickers, and mini squishies. Tatiana Calvillo told boston25news.com that the organization actively rotates the contents to keep the packages engaging for returning patients. Fellow Thayer Academy student Brynn Hso joined the effort after watching her sister undergo cancer treatment last year. Hso stated that the donations aim to provide small moments of relief during otherwise stressful medical visits.

“There’s a lot of tests and it a whole big production going on But I just hoped that these kits can kind of give small relief in the middle of a really busy day or a busy night and it can just take family’s minds off of everything else that’s Going on and let them have a few enjoyable moments that can make things feel Normal again,” Hso said. “We have mini squishies and then some Halloween coloring books,” the girls showed.

Global Expansion and Student Leadership

The foundation relies on youth leadership to drive its mission of compassion and peer support. Beyond physical toys and games, volunteers write monthly cards included in each kit shipment.
