A persistent nor’easter continued to soak Massachusetts through Monday, bringing heavy rainfall and localized flooding to multiple counties across the state. According to the National Weather Service, several communities recorded over 5 inches of rain by Sunday morning as the storm system lingered over the region.
Rainfall Totals Across Massachusetts Counties
Bristol County recorded some of the highest precipitation totals in the state. New Bedford received the most rain overall, measuring 6.47 inches as of 7 a.m. Sunday. Neighboring Fairhaven followed closely with 4.48 inches, while Westport recorded 4.46 inches and Raynham logged 4.44 inches.
In Barnstable County, Falmouth accumulated 5.15 inches of rain, and Camp Edwards registered 4.84 inches. Mashpee saw 4.39 inches, and Bourne recorded 3.92 inches.
Plymouth County experienced significant rainfall as well, led by Bridgewater with 5.33 inches and Rochester with 5.22 inches. Carver picked up 4.74 inches, and Marion recorded 4.64 inches.
In Norfolk County, Milton measured 4.44 inches, closely matched by Blue Hills at 4.42 inches. Westwood reported 4.01 inches of accumulation.
Dukes County totals included 4.76 inches in West Tisbury and 4.75 inches in Oak Bluffs, while Martha’s Vineyard Airport recorded 4.25 inches.
Suffolk County saw lower totals, with Boston recording 2.56 inches and Logan Airport logging 1.50 inches. Worcester County totals were led by Blackstone at 2.34 inches and Holden at 2.30 inches. In Middlesex County, Holliston led with 2.58 inches, while Framingham recorded 1.97 inches. Essex County experienced lighter rainfall, with Newburyport recording 1.90 inches and Hamilton logging 1.45 inches. Nantucket Airport reported 1.57 inches.
Flood Warnings and Regional Impact
Towns and cities across Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Nantucket, Norfolk, and Plymouth counties remained under flood warnings on Sunday.
