UFC Champion Tom Aspinall Signs with Matchroom Talent Agency
UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has partnered with Eddie Hearn’s newly established Matchroom Talent Agency, marking the agency’s inaugural signing. The agreement, announced on Thursday, March 5, 2026, is a commercial and advisory one, meaning Aspinall remains under contract with the UFC. This move arrives amid a growing rivalry between Hearn and UFC boss Dana White, following Zuffa Boxing’s acquisition of boxer Conor Benn.
Matchroom Talent Agency: A New Venture
Matchroom Talent Agency, a subsidiary of Matchroom Sport, joins the company’s existing portfolio including Matchroom Boxing, the Professional Darts Corporation and World Snooker. The agency will focus on managing and advising talent across sport and entertainment, providing services in commercial ventures, publishing, digital media, broadcast rights, and legal support.
According to Eddie Hearn, Chairman of Matchroom Sport, the agency’s guiding principle is to identify individuals who demonstrate both humility and heroism. “It has become a guiding principle to seek out people who are humble but heroic in equal measure. Their journey is our journey. Their triumph, our purpose,” Hearn told ESPN. He added that Aspinall embodies these qualities and is the ideal first member of the team.
Aspinall’s Perspective
Aspinall expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Hearn’s experience in athlete representation. “I’m really excited to welcome Eddie and the Matchroom Sport group in a commercial and advisory role, and to become the first athlete to join the new Matchroom Talent Agency,” Aspinall said.
Context: The Hearn-White Rivalry
The signing occurs after a period of tension between Hearn and Dana White, particularly following Zuffa Boxing’s signing of Conor Benn to a $15 million deal. Benn had previously been represented by Matchroom. White has publicly downplayed any issues with Hearn, comparing the situation to his past relationship with Tito Ortiz.
Aspinall’s Current Status
Aspinall was promoted to Undisputed Champion after Jon Jones’ retirement. However, his first title defense against Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest due to eye pokes, requiring surgery. He has not yet returned to the Octagon.
