State and Federal Funding Responses

While the federal government has allocated some funding to address the outbreaks, resources remain limited. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided $8.5 million to seven areas experiencing outbreaks over the past year, with funding amounts determined by state and local requests and CDC availability. South Carolina, grappling with one of the largest outbreaks in a generation, received $100,000 from the CDC for vaccine-preventable disease responses, in addition to redirecting previously allocated emergency funds.
