MediaTek launches Dimensity 7100 Mid-Range Chipset
JAKARTA – MediaTek launched Dimensity 7100, a new mid-range chipset built with a mature 6nm process to balance performance and efficiency. With an octa-core CPU, Mali-G610 GPU, and modern connectivity and camera support, this chipset targets affordable smartphones launching in 2026.
The latest Dimensity 9000 chipset series from MediaTek has recently gained significant attention. Historically, MediaTek was often considered a “budget” option to Qualcomm, but with the 9000 series, MediaTek demonstrated its ability to compete at a high level. However, for consumers who don’t want to spend heavily on flagship devices, MediaTek continues to offer support with its newest Dimensity 7100 chipset.
Getting to know the MediaTek Dimensity 7100
Unlike the Dimensity 9000 series, the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 isn’t manufactured on the 3nm process. Instead, it utilizes the older 6nm process. This isn’t necessarily a drawback. While many companies pursue 2nm and 3nm chips, older processes still have merit.
Not all devices require the most advanced technology. Furthermore, the 6nm process is well-established, making it more reliable and cost-effective to produce. This allows MediaTek to position the chipset for mid-range devices aimed at budget-conscious consumers.
