The Public National Health System (SPNS) recently executed two important public health deployments in the Aragua state municipalities of José Ángel Lamas and José Rafael Revenga. These operations, managed by the SPNS, provided direct medical screenings, vaccinations, and essential medication to residents and displaced individuals in the region, according to official reports from the Venezuelan Ministry of Health.

Medical Assistance for Displaced Populations in José Ángel Lamas

In the José Ángel Lamas municipality, health teams focused on providing integral support to 57 individuals relocated from the state of La Guaira following seismic activity reported on June 24. The intervention, led by the Basic Health Team of the Community Comprehensive Health Area (ASIC), targeted nine specific sectors.

Clinical data from the deployment confirms the following services provided to the group, which included two infants, 10 children, six adolescents, and 25 adults:

  • Specialized Consultations: Patients received care in general medicine, psychology, internal medicine, pediatrics, and traumatology.
  • Preventive Care: Teams administered 10 doses of the yellow fever vaccine.
  • Diagnostic Screenings: Clinicians performed 33 blood pressure checks, five blood glucose tests, and 18 weight and height evaluations.

Health Services Expansion in José Rafael Revenga

Simultaneously, the SPNS expanded its reach in the José Rafael Revenga municipality, where 83 local residents—54 women and 29 men—received a total of 616 distinct medical services.

This operation prioritized primary care and diagnostic monitoring to address local health needs:

  • Clinical Consultations: The team conducted 40 pediatric exams, 32 general medicine consultations, and 23 visits focused on gynecology and obstetrics.
  • Resource Distribution: Healthcare providers distributed 2,560 units of essential medications.
  • Public Health Monitoring: Staff administered 16 essential vaccines and performed 83 blood pressure screenings alongside 83 weight and height assessments.

Administrative Oversight and Public Health Strategy

Dr. Yosmary Lombano, the Sole Health Authority for the state of Aragua, stated that these deployments are part of a broader social reconstruction effort. According to the official release, the strategy emphasizes providing prenatal control, vaccination coverage, and free medication to residents in their own communities.

The initiative utilizes the ASIC network, which serves as the primary operational unit for the Venezuelan public health system to deliver care at the local level. These efforts are intended to stabilize health outcomes for vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by recent environmental displacement, by integrating clinical consultations with community-based educational health sessions.
