Megadeth Concludes Canadian Farewell Tour in Quebec City
Megadeth, the iconic thrash metal band, concluded its “Canada 2026” tour with a final performance at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City on March 6, 2026. The tour, which kicked off on February 15 in Victoria, British Columbia, marks a significant moment as the band embarks on a farewell run after more than forty years of music and influence. Videotron Centre hosted the final demonstrate, featuring support from Anthrax and Exodus.
A Legacy of Thrash Metal
Frontman Dave Mustaine announced the farewell tour with a message of celebration, inviting fans to join them for the next few years. Mustaine expressed gratitude for the band’s journey, stating that they have achieved something “truly wonderful” that may never be replicated.
Megadeth has received 12 Grammy nominations, winning one for Best Metal Performance. The band, currently comprised of Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaar, has released sixteen studio albums, with five achieving platinum certifications in the US. They have sold over 50 million albums worldwide and currently have 5.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Recent Album Success
Megadeth’s latest studio album, “Megadeth,” debuted at number one on the U.S. Album chart, earning 73,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 29, 2026. The album’s success was largely driven by album sales, totaling 69,000 units. The album was released via Tradecraft, Dave Mustaine’s imprint on Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label.
The album also reached the top spot in Australia and Austria, and secured top five positions in Finland, Sweden, Belgium, the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and New Zealand.
A Career Spanning Decades
Megadeth was formed in 1983 after Dave Mustaine’s departure from Metallica. The band’s debut album, “Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Quality!”, was released in 1985. Mustaine has indicated that the farewell tour could continue for another three to five years.
