According to the politician, the first lady, whom he describes as a very refined person, considers his dance moves to the hit “YMCA” unbecoming of the head of state. Melania even compared him to Franklin Roosevelt,noting the elegance of his predecessors,but Trump jokingly points out that it was this style that helped him win.Trump’s signature hip-swaying and fist-pumping have become an integral part of the 2024 campaign and future speeches.The president is so enamored with the process that during one campaign rally in Pennsylvania, he stayed on stage for forty minutes, moving to the music.
Despite his wife’s criticism, the use of the YMCA song turned out to be extremely profitable for its creators. Village people frontman Victor Willis noted that despite the many complaints from disgruntled listeners, the Trump campaign had every legal right to air the song thanks to the proper license.
In addition, thanks to the president’s public dancing, the legendary 70’s hit experienced a revival, returning to the top of the Billboard chart 45 years after its release. The song’s composer confirmed that this rise in popularity brought the group millions of dollars in revenue, so he decided not to interfere with the politician’s eccentric performances.
